EPIC Calendar: Spring 2016

Spring quarter flies quickly, but we have much planned for the remainder of it. Please join us!

Sunday mornings: Rides Available to St. Paul’s
Most EPIC members attend the 10:30 service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2117 Walnut Street, Bellingham, WA 98225. Services in the Episcopal Church are known for combining ancient ritual and timeless music with theology that is at once both orthodox and contemporary, transcending the Catholic-Protestant divide in ways that acknowledge Christ’s presence in the world and respect the dignity of every human being. We offer rides each week from Viking Union and from Fairhaven Lot C. Contact EPIC member Kaylee McElroy for details.

Our monthly service of Taizé prayer is coming up, followed by our usual dinner at the home of St. Paul’s parishioners. Taizé is a lovely service featuring lots of singing and candles, and it will take place at St. Paul’s on April 24 at 5:00 p.m. Need a ride? Let Jon know … Following Taizé, we will gather at the home of Jim and Connie Schmotzer, only 1.2 miles from the church.

DNA-fragment-3D-vdWSunday, May 1: Biology and Theology
VU 462A, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

During the season of Easter, we explore the ramifications of resurrection on our lives and on the world. It’s spring, which means there is new life bursting out everywhere. What better time to compare biological and Christian worldviews?

SexualitySunday, May 8: A New Christian Sexual Ethic
VU 462A, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

People’s assumptions of what Christians believe and preach about sexuality (rightly or wrongly) are driving people out of the church in droves. During a time of rapid societal change, Christian churches have not always effectively applied theology to new understandings and realities. So … what should Christians believe and teach about human sexuality? Join us for what promises to be a lively discussion.
